Anirvan Ghosh was
born in Bloomington,
Indiana, and grew up in Kanpur, India.
From 1981-1985 he attended the California
Institute of Technology and graduated
with a BS in Physics. He was a graduate student with Carla
Shatz from 1985-1990 at Stanford University, and was a postdoc
at Stanford from 1990-1991. He worked with Mike Greenberg
as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School from 1991-1995.
From 1995-2003 he was on the faculty at The Johns Hopkins
School of Medicine, and moved to UCSD in 2003 as the Stephen
Kuffler Professor of Biology. He lives
in Carmel Valley with his wife, and
two children.
